Well hello there, you tall chocolaty glass of milk. What makes you so dark, rich and flavorful? I just want to drink you up…and I will! Okay, I had to take a moment there to hit on my chocolate milk because it’s just so insanely boozy and delightful and if I didn’t hit on it, someone else would, right?!?
St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and every year, I challenge myself to come up with a new recipe to take Guinness to a whole new level since it’s my husbands favorite beer. So far, I’ve made a Guinness Milkshake, Guinness Irish Onion Soup and Guinness Corn Dogs. So what to make this year? Well, by this point you can already tell that I’ve made a luscious Guinness chocolate syrup to stir into a cold glass of milk. This stout and sweet syrup will elevate any type of milk you want, such as whole milk, almond milk and coconut milk. Drink it hot or drink it cold. There is just no wrong way to drink a glass of Guinness Chocolate Milk!
Guinness Chocolate Milk
1/2 cup Guinness beer
1/2 cup coconut sugar (can also use white sugar)
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp sea salt
1-2 cups whole milk, coconut milk or almond milk
I whisked together all of the ingredients except for the milk in a small saucepan.
I brought the mixture to a boil over medium heat, whisking occasionally, then reduced the heat to low and simmered for 5 minutes. Check out how beautiful and thick this syrup is!
You can either refrigerate the syrup until cool or just pour it right into a few glasses of cold milk while it is still warm for some Guinness hot chocolate. The amount of syrup you pour into your milk will dictate how chocolaty the chocolate milk will taste.
I stirred the syrup into the milk and drank it all up. No chocolate milk for my kids. Just for mommy and daddy.
