Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! I am definitely not Irish and neither is Justin, but he sure wishes he was. In fact, I once bought him a square foot of land in Ireland for his birthday and he was the happiest man I ever saw. So I was all for it when Justin asked me to make beer milk shakes using his all-time favorite beer, Guinness! I’m not really a huge fan of this dark bitter beer, but I figured it would taste delicious with vanilla frozen yogurt. I mean, what wouldn’t?!?
Guinness Milk Shake Ingredients:
makes 4 servings…or 2 very huge servings for hungry people
4 cups (2 pints) vanilla frozen yogurt (you can use ice cream also, but I was trying to be a tiny bit healthy)
1 can or bottle of Guinness Draught
garnish options: chocolate syrup, chocolate sauce, dulce de leche topping, chocolate shavings
Before working on the milk shake, I put 2 tall Guinness glasses in the freezer to chill. I bought them for Justin years ago and we hardly ever use them!
After measuring 4 cups of frozen yogurt in to the blender, Justin poured in the beer. He insisted!
Next step was to blend the mixture until thick and smooth, about 30 seconds.
Before pouring the milk shake in to the glasses, I drizzled dolce de leche syrup along the inside of the chilled glasses. I’m not sure if there’s a pretty way to do this, so I just had fun with it. There’s no wrong way to pour syrup in a glass, right?!?
Justin poured the milk shakes in to the glasses! He made quite a mess, but I made him clean it up! I shaved some chocolate over the top and we were ready to try them. I may not be a huge Guinness fan, but this milk shake was just plain awesome!!! I suggest everyone tries this right now. If you don’t have Guinness and ice cream in the house (I assume most of you don’t), go out and get it! Maybe try it with another stout beer, if you have that lying around. Trust me. It’s worth every calorie. And great for any meal of the day. Enjoy!
